Land Adventures\u00a0\u00a0in Costa Rica<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Arenal<\/a>\"Arenal<\/a>Know that it\u00a0rains more\u00a0in the central part of the country, in the regions near the\u00a0Arenal <\/a>Volcano\u00a0and the Monteverde<\/a>\u00a0Cloud Forest – 2 choice locations. \u00a0We had wet weather in December around the\u00a0Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica. You need a rain jacket. \u00a0The fog will often restrict the view of the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica. \u00a0We lucked out and had the volcano\u00a0come into view while it was erupting at sunset\u00a0– yeah!<\/p>\n

While the coast is warm, 80s & 90s degrees F,\u00a0the Arenal and Monteverde are\u00a0\u00a0cooler, from high 60s\/low 70s to low 80s.<\/p>\n

Many people fly into San Jose, \u00a0Juan Santamaria International Airport<\/a>, because they want to see the volcanoes and cloud forests, and we rented a car, drove there and stayed overnight. \u00a0At sunset the clouds cleared so we could see Arenal erupt. \u00a0Spectacular in person! \u00a0We were able to see it from the front porch of our cabin on one of the hot springs properties.<\/p>\n

Accommodations<\/span><\/strong> –\u00a0We stayed at Arenal Paraiso Resort and Spa<\/a> in a bungalow with a view of the Arenal Volcano from our front glassed-in porch.\u00a0 Our accommodations included a full breakfast, and the resort had thermal springs throughout heated by the volcano, as well as a swimming pool and beautiful gardens with gorgeous local birds.\u00a0\u00a0 You can get nightly rates for under $90\/night on some websites.\u00a0It seems to get 3.5-4 stars on tripadvisor. \u00a0It was perfect for us on our 2-night stay in Arenal. \"Costa<\/a>Ziplines<\/span><\/strong> – There are many forests that offer ziplining. \u00a0While we hoped to zipline in Monteverde, the rain kept us from visiting that cloud forest. Instead we took advantage of a zipline adventure in Guanacoste at\u00a0Buena Vista in the canopy in the shadows of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.<\/p>\n

For me, it is exhilarating to be in the middle of a zipline at the treetop canopy with\u00a0the monkeys looking at you. \u00a0I slowed my zipline speed down so I could watch the monkeys. Our guide and Tom were at the other end yelling at me to come on, let the pressure off. \u00a0I said, “Shh! \u00a0Monkeys!” \u00a0 They seemed to be a bit exasperated with me, and\u00a0my advice is\u00a0to slow down<\/em>, take it all in, and enjoy the rare moments in nature with the animals.<\/p>\n

\"Costa<\/a>When hiking in the canopy on the high bridges, we saw snakes resting from a recent meal, a sloth\u00a0resting in the treetops, and monkeys. \u00a0When taking the ziplines, Tom had a wild\u00a0Peccary\u00a0follow him on a hike to the top of the ziplines. \u00a0It laid down on his foot; it got attached to him quickly until he zipped away.<\/p>\n
